Hair Therapy 101

Hair By: Molinda Seng

Remember the oh so stylin Molinda in my previous post? Well she just so happens to be a newly graduated Paul Mitchell hairstylist! Thanks to her I now have a newly trimmed mane. Look Ma, no split-ends!

I admit, I’m horrible when it comes to getting my hair cut or even taking care of my hair. I’ve been trying to grow it out for so long that I forgot the number one rule– to trim!  So naturally when Molinda saw my hair, she needed to do a rescue operation. I think she said something in the lines of “I can see your split-ends all the way from back here!” Ekk! So to help both myself and others who tend to neglect the locks, I asked Molinda some secret hair tips & knowledge.

“Hair grows half an inch every month. You should trim (1/4 inch) of your hair every four weeks, therefore you”ll have 1/4 inch of new growth left. By one year, you should have a healthy, split-ends free, new growth of 3 inches.”

“Always shampoo your roots and condition your ends so that you are not drying out your ends with shampoo.”

“As you grow older your hair growth starts to slow down.  If you want to create an illusion that your hair is longer than it really looks, wear a turtle-neck.”

Thanks Mo for the 411! Looks like I’m due for a trim on May 13th ^_^ Happy trimmings & cheers to split-end free hair!
