TG’s Guide to Gifting

IMG_9751December is here already?! My how time flies. Things have been a little hectic with lots of big events happening and the holidays approaching right around the corner.  Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I’m sad to say that I will be one of the last minute shoppers this year.

Here are some of my tips for gift giving this year-

  • Give something that will serve as a reminder to a special memory you had with that person. Did you take a cooking class this year with your best friend? Maybe cookbooks from different parts of the world would be a great idea. This way you both benefit from the gift of learning how to cook different things together.
  • Giving the gift of giving.  Know someone that has everything? Or someone who is an advocate for an important cause? Why not make a donation to their favorite cause in honor of them.
  • Crunched for money? Try looking up DIY projects.  Gifts made from the heart give bigger sentimental value. One of my favorite DIY blogs is A Beautiful Mess.
  • Lastly, if you are still stumped about what to buy, try Cool Huntings website for the guide to gifting. There are a ton of unique gifts here like this one CLICK HERE What cat wouldn’t want that?

Here are some photos of Tanabe and I today at the mall. Best wishes to your gifting endeavors!

Downtown in East Village

Looking for a coffee place in Downtown San Diego with delicious lattes and to get a little work done on your laptop? Try The Village 631 in East Village of downtown San Diego.  This place has (in my opinion) one of the best chai tea lattes, a fun little wine bar, and your feline friends are welcome! For more information visit their website at www.thevillageat631.com.

Here’s some photos of me and Janelle on our way to the coffee shop.

Peace and a latte love!

Color Palette: Black & Red

Ready to ditch the shorts and tees, I started doing some fall clothing shopping. I couldn’t help but notice all the red/burgundy clothing for this fall. Everything from patterns, flannels, and pants seem to be in this popular color. Unfortunately for my closet, this is a color that seems to be missing. If you are anything like me, black and any other monochromatic color seem to be the dominating color that is taking over my closet.

Here are some inspirational pieces to help add red to your fall wardrobe.

Change of Scenery, 3 Girls with 3 Different Looks

One of the luxuries of living in Southern California is that you can drive about one hour-two hours to a whole different city and you are in a whole new atmosphere.  The change of scenery from SD ->LA is one I frequently run to.  I will never neglect my city but sometimes I need that new place to bring me inspiration or to open my eyes to new things. Example, who opens a whole store just based on a couple t-shirts with donuts on them? Why only in LA of course! And is it just me or are the kids in LA on a different level of cool?!

Luckily for me, I also have the luxury of sharing these journeys with the best of friends.  We may not be as cool as the LA kids but we can think so after a couple mango mojitos during happy hour. ^_^

A Farewell to Summer

And a season later…. I can’t believe summer is already gone. Where did it go? I apologize for neglecting you. Life has really kept me busy these past couple months. With moving to a new place (which I am absolutely loving!), trips, work, dealing with a sick dog I haven’t found time to do the things I enjoy most, including updating Tinted Gold!

Here are some recent photos from my one time I got to enjoy the beach this summer. Total beach bum style.

Smitten with Printin

So I have been getting ready for my upcoming trip to New York City and words can’t describe how excited I am for this trip! Only 7 more days and its hello NYC! I’ve been doing a little shopping for my trip and I can’t even begin to say how hard it has been to pick what I want to wear because of all the amazing bright colors and all the fabulous prints! Everything from florals to tribal– I want to wear them all! Here’s some inspiration to print up your summer fits.

A Very Tuesday Do

I’ve been MIA! But for good reasons I promise.  This past week I finally checked off one of my bucket list items which was to attend a Coldplay concert! And yes, it was amazingly, amazing! I am still in awe by it. The lights, the fireworks, the music, and the surprises–love love love! Pictures/videos from that night TBD! Also, this past week my little cousin from Utah came down to take her senior portraits with me.  All I can say is gorgeous! I promise to post these up soon.

On another note, I decided I would try something different with my hair. I hardly wear my hair up (because I’m lazy to do anything with it) but to my surprise this messy bun do was super easy and fast. Here is a photo from today with my new clutch that I am in love with.

(What I wore: H&M beige suede heels, H&M jean jacket (a few years back), Nordstrom straw clutch)

Want to achieve the messy bun do? Here is a simple tutorial video from Forever 21 that shows how easy this is. Unfortunately I have A LOT of hair so mine doesn’t look exactly like their models but it still works for me.

Happy Taco Tuesdays!

Morning After Clutch

It’s been awhile since I’ve purchased a new bag and I was ecstatic to find the perfect side bag by Rebecca Minkoff! I love it so much that I want it in all the fun colors they come in (is that a little excessive?!) The great thing about this bag is that you can remove the chain and waa-laa! It’s now a clutch (hence the name MAC mini – Morning after clutch)!

I purchased mine at Nordstrom (call ahead only certain stores may carry them) but you can also purchase it online at www.rebeccaminkoff.com

Chez Moi

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a day with no plans. It started off with a warm green-tea latte from Starbucks outside.  The weather was a little gloomy, but it was nice to enjoy the morning on my patio set that I hardly ever sit on. I seriously need to plan more mornings out there.

Afterwards, I decided I would take Tanabe (my dog) out.  We headed to Kate Sessions Memorial Park which has an amazing view. The park sits up on top of a hill and overlooks all of Mission Bay and Mission Beach. If you are looking for a dog friendly park in San Diego this is definitely a great place to go. Everyone is super friendly and it’s great to see the dogs running around playing together.

Here are some photos from this morning on my patio.
